Russia's Foreign Ministry has dismissed American concerns about an alleged Russian military build-up in Syria.
The Foreign Ministry did not mention the US concerns in its comments
about a weekend phone conversation between Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry. The ministry says Lavrov
and Kerry discussed different aspects of the situation in Syria as well
as the fight against the Islamic State and other terrorist groups.
Kerry called Lavrov on Saturday to express US concerns about reports
that Moscow is readying deployment of heavy military assets in Syria. US
State Department officials say Kerry warned that if such reports were
accurate, the actions could further escalate the conflict.
