The concept of "Gratitude Programme" started around March 2002 when the Outgoing Students wanted to seek an audience with Bhagawan for one last time as "HIS STUDENT".
As part of the presentation, one of the boys, shows the lyrics of that particular song which will be sung. In this video you can see how Swami listens to the song and goes through the lyrics and asks the boy, "Who composed this song?" and the answer that Swami gives is heart warming.

(MEANING)
One should be blessed by Sai's compassion however great he might be.
Be it an Asura (demon) or a Bhusura (emperor) or a scholar
He should be blessed by Sai's compassion.
One might be learned and argue well, one may compose many poems,
One might stay in caves and sit and meditate,
But he should be blessed by Sai's compassion.
One might practice Yoga or have gone through sacred texts like the Bhagavatam,
One might grow long beard and wear an auspicious mark on the forehead,
But he should be blessed by Sai's compassion.
One might perform severe Japa (chanting the name of God) and pray hard and may even cry doing so,
But he should be blessed by Sai's compassion.
One might put on saffron clothes (symbolising renunciation) or might wear a garland around one’s neck, and roll the rosary fast (symbolising continuous chanting of God’s name), but ultimately everyone has to come to You Swami.
He should be blessed by Sai’s compassion.
One might worship You with devotion or might come to Puttaparthi itself,
One might perform rituals well or might go round the entire globe,
But he should be blesed by Sai’s compassion.... Your compassion...
Swami's compassion.
