The ascended master Hilarion, the Chohan,1 or Lord, of the Fifth Ray of Science, Healing and Truth, holds a world balance for truth from his etheric retreat, known as the Temple of Truth, over the island of Crete. The island was an historic focal point for the Oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece.We know few of this master’s incarnations, but the three most prominent are as the High Priest of the Temple of Truth on Atlantis; then as Paul, beloved apostle of Jesus; and as Hilarion, the great saint and healer, performer of miracles, who founded monasticism in Palestine. Three years after conversion, Paul spent another three years in seclusion in the Arabian Desert where he was taken up into Jesus’ etheric retreat. Paul did not ascend in that life due to his torturing of Christians earlier in that embodiment. In his very next lifetime, Paul was born to pagan parents in 290 A.D. They resided in the same geographical region in which he had lived as Paul in his previous lifetime. As a young boy, Hilarion was sent to Alexandria to study. During this time of study, he heard the gospel and was converted to Christianity.His greatest desire was to be a hermit—to spend his time fasting and praying to God in seclusion. So he divided his fortune among the poor and set out for the desert near Gaza. He spent twenty years in prayer in the desert before he performed his first miracle. God, through him, cured a woman of barrenness. And his healing ministry began.Soon Hilarion was sought out by hundreds who had heard of his miraculous cures and ability to exorcise demons. In 329 A.D., with a growing number of disciples assembling around him, he fled to Egypt to escape the constant flow of people seeking to be healed from all manner of diseases. His travels brought him to Alexandria again, to the Libyan Desert and to Sicily.But his miracles did not only include healings. Once when a seacoast town in which he was staying was threatened with a violent storm, he etched three signs of the cross into the sand at his feet then stood with hands raised toward the oncoming waves and held the sea at bay.Hilarion spent his last years in a lonely cave on Cyprus. He was canonized by the Catholic Church and is today known as the founder of the anchorite life, having originated in Palestine. Το 1946, ο 36χρονος Στέλιος Κυριακίδης αποφάσισε να συμμετάσχει στον περίφημο πεντηκοστό Διεθνή Μαραθώνιο της Βοστώνης (42.195 μ.), μετά από τιμητική πρόσκληση των διοργανωτών. Τα γεγονότα ότι λόγω της Κατοχής ήταν αδύναμος και υποσιτισμένος, ότι είχε πέντε χρόνια να αγωνιστεί σε Μαραθώνιο και η έλλειψη προπόνησης, προκαλούσαν την σύζυγό του: «Είσαι τρελός; Έτσι κοκαλιάρης όπως είσαι θα πεθάνεις!». Έτσι ξεκίνησε τις προπονήσεις ακόμη και μέσα στο χιόνι, ενώ κάποια στιγμή λιποθύμησε από την εξάντληση.
Όμως, ο Σ.Ε.Γ.Α.Σ. αδυνατούσε να στείλει βεβαίωση-πιστοποίηση ερασιτέχνη αθλητή. ούτε βίζα μπορούσε να βγάλει καθώς ήταν προνόμιο μόνο Αμερικανών υπηκόων, αλλά με την βοήθεια του πρόξενου, τον οποίο γνώριζε, την απέκτησε. Παρόλα αυτά το ταξίδι με το πλοίο θα του στερούσε απαραίτητες προπονήσεις ή ακόμη και την συμμετοχή του στον αγώνα, ενώ το αεροπορικό εισιτήριο για Παρίσι κόστιζε 575 δολάρια με τον ίδιο να δηλώνει: «Όταν άκουσα το ποσόν τρελάθηκα. Εκείνη την ημέρα θα πήγα 30 φορές πάνω κάτω την οδό Σταδίου». Μετά από αντιρρήσεις της συζύγου του, πούλησε την ηλεκτρική κουζίνα και το ραδιόφωνό τους, ενώ κατάφερε να λάβει και από την Δ.Ε.Η., όπου δούλευε, επιταγή 1.000 δολαρίων (από την ταραχή του ξέχασε να ευχαριστήσει). Όταν η τράπεζα αρνήθηκε να του δώσει συνάλλαγμα είπε αγανακτισμένος στον διευθυντή: «Τρέχω για την Ελλάδα από το 1933. αγωνίζομαι για τη γαλανόλευκη. δεν είμαι κανένας τυχοδιώκτης».
Τελικά, στις 4 Απριλίου 1946 επιβιβάστηκε για πρώτη φορά σε αεροπλάνο, πετώντας για Αμερική.
Στην Αμερική, οι γιατροί πίστευαν πως θα πέθαινε από εξάντληση κατά την διαδρομή, καθώς ήταν εξαιρετικά αδύναμος και καχεκτικός. αλλά οι αντιρρήσεις τους ξεπεράστηκαν από την αθλητική ομοσπονδία. Προπολεμικά ο Κυριακίδης είχε συμμετάσχει στον Μαραθώνιο της Βοστώνης του 1930, εγκαταλείποντας λόγω των καινούργιων αθλητικών υποδημάτων που του είχαν χαρίσει Έλληνες ομογενείς και τα οποία τον πλήγωσαν. Κατά την παραμονή του στην Αμερική υποσχέθηκε πως δεν θα εγκατέλειπε ξανά λέγοντας: «Ήρθα να τρέξω για επτά εκατομμύρια πεινασμένους Έλληνες.». Ο μάγειρας του ξενοδοχείου όπου διέμενε ήταν Έλληνας ομογενής και τον βοήθησε να πάρει πέντε κιλά μέσα σε λίγες ημέρες. Την ημέρα του αγώνα, όμως, οι γιατροί είχαν και πάλι τις ενστάσεις τους, σχετικά με την υγεία του Κυριακίδη. Έτσι υπέγραψε υπεύθυνη δήλωση, σύμφωνα με την οποία ήταν ενήμερος για τους κινδύνους, αναλαμβάνοντας όλη την ευθύνη (κάποιες εφημερίδες τον αποκαλούσαν «ο κοκκαλιάρης 'Ελληνας»).
Κατά τις 12:00, στις 20 Απριλίου 1946, δόθηκε η εκκίνηση του Μαραθωνίου της Βοστώνης. Οι κύριοι διεκδικητές της νίκης ήταν ο Αμερικανός Τζόνυ Κέλυ (2 νίκες, 7 δεύτερες θέσεις, 61 συμμετοχές) και ο Καναδός Ζεράρντ Κοτέ (4 νίκες). Πριν τον αγώνα κάποιος έδωσε στον Κυριακίδη ένα διπλωμένο χαρτάκι να το διαβάσει λίγο πριν την έναρξη. Από την μια πλευρά έγραφε «Ή ταν ή επί τας» και από την άλλη «Νενικήκαμεν». Είχε ζητήσει από την επιτροπή να αγωνιστεί με τον αριθμό 7 (τυχερός αριθμός στην Αρχαία Ελλάδα) και έτσι του δόθηκε το 77 (δυο φορές τυχερός). Ακολουθώντας την τακτική που ακολουθούσε πάντα, δεν σπατάλησε δυνάμεις από την αρχή αλλά επιτάχυνε από το μέσον της διαδρομής (είχε βάλει σαν «σημάδια» διάφορα κτήρια, τοποθεσίες και τα παντελονάκια των συναγωνιστών του). Επίσης κοιτούσε μόνο μπροστά αναφέροντας: «όταν ένας μαραθωνοδρόμος κοιτάζει πίσω του, δίνει φτερά στον αντίπαλο». Στα τελευταία χιλιόμετρα προπορευόταν μαζί με τον Τζόνυ Κέλυ. Τόσο ομογενείς όσο και Αμερικανοί τον ενθάρρυναν, ενώ ένας ομογενής θέλοντας να τον βοηθήσει, του προσέφερε ένα πορτοκάλι χτυπώντας τον ενθαρρυντικά στην πλάτη και μπερδεύτηκε στα πόδια του, κάνοντάς τον να χάσει ρυθμό και έδαφος. Κάποιος άλλος Έλληνας του φώναξε: «Καλά πας, Στέλιο! Έστω δεύτερος». Παρακάτω, ένας Αμερικανός δημοσιογράφος που παρακολουθούσε τον αγώνα με αυτοκίνητο, τον πληροφόρησε: «ο Κέλυ «έσπασε», είναι ώρα να φύγεις». Τότε συνέβη κάτι, που ο Κυριακίδης θυμόταν με συγκίνηση: «...ένας ηλικιωμένος Έλληνας να τραβάει τα μαλλιά του και να λέει: Για την Ελλάδα Στέλιο μου! Για τα παιδιά σου!». Τότε ο Στέλιος Κυριακίδης έδωσε όλα τα σωματικά του αποθέματα κατακτώντας την νίκη, φωνάζοντας στον τερματισμό: «For Greece!» (Για την Ελλάδα).
Ο χρόνος του 2:29:27 αποτέλεσε τον καλύτερο στην Ευρώπη και για 22 χρόνια τον καλύτερο στην Ελλάδα.
Οι Αμερικανοί τον αποκάλεσαν «ο απόγονος του Φειδιππίδη» και σε ερώτηση που του τέθηκε: «Τι θα ήθελες να κάνουμε για σένα;», -ενώ του προσφέρθηκαν χρήματα για να γίνει επαγγελματίας αθλητής και είχε προτάσεις από το Χόλιγουντ για να γίνει ηθοποιός- απάντησε: «Για μένα τίποτα. Μόνο για την Ελλάδα…», επιμένοντας: «Σας παρακαλώ, μην ξεχάσετε τη χώρα μου». Ο Τζόνυ Κέλυ (ήταν ο επικρατέστερος για τη νίκη) όταν ρωτήθηκε γιατί δεν κατάφερε να κερδίσει τον αγώνα, απάντησε: «Πως θα μπορούσα να κερδίσω ποτέ έναν τέτοιον αθλητή; Εγώ έτρεχα για τον εαυτό μου κι αυτός για μια ολόκληρη πατρίδα». Αργότερα, ο Κυριακίδης τηλεγράφησε στην Δ.Ε.Η.: «Ενίκησα με δεύτερον τον Κέλυ και τρίτον τον Κοτέ. Αγών σκληρός. Ευτυχής διότι ενίκησα». Την επομένη του αγώνα στην εφημερίδα της Βοστώνης (Boston Sunday Post), στο άρθρο «Η νίκη ανήκει σε δύο έθνη», ο δημοσιογράφος είχε γράψει: «Έχω ξαναδεί πολλούς αθλητές να κλαίνε είτε από χαρά για το θρίαμβό τους είτε από λύπη για την ήττα τους. Αυτός ο Αθηναίος με τα ευγενή αισθήματα δάκρυσε αληθινά, με δάκρυα που έβγαιναν μέσα από τη δυνατή ελληνική καρδιά του. Μια καρδιά που δεν τον πρόδωσε στα 26 μίλια που διήνυσε, αλλά που κόντεψε να σπάσει όταν έφτασε στο τέρμα, τόσο από περηφάνια για τη νίκη του όσο και από θλίψη για τις κακουχίες που περνούσε η πατρίδα του».
Το «Πακέτο Κυριακίδη» Ο Στέλιος Κυριακίδης, μετά τον αγώνα έμεινε για περίπου ένα μήνα στην Αμερική, αποσκοπώντας στην συγκέντρωση βοήθειας για την Ελλάδα, καθώς η νίκη του είχε προκαλέσει την συμπάθεια σε Αμερικανούς και κυρίως σε Έλληνες ομογενείς. Τελικά το ποσό που κατάφερε να συγκεντρώσει έφθασε τα 250.000 δολάρια, ενώ η οικογένεια Λιβανού έστειλε δύο πλοία με είδη πρώτης ανάγκης (τρόφιμα, ρούχα και φάρμακα). Η βοήθεια αυτή ονομάστηκε «Πακέτο Κυριακίδη». Τον Μάιο του 1947, ως απόρροια της δημοσιότητας που είχε δοθεί στην κατάσταση της Ελλάδας, λόγω του Μαραθωνίου της Βοστώνης, τέθηκε σε εφαρμογή εσπευσμένη οικονομική βοήθεια από την Αμερική (400.000 δολάρια), πριν το Σχέδιο Μάρσαλ. Στις 23 Μαΐου 1946, ο Κυριακίδης επέστρεψε στην Ελλάδα, όπου περίπου ένα εκατομμύριο Έλληνες τον υποδέχθηκαν με τιμές ήρωα. Έπειτα, πραγματοποιήθηκε επίσημη τελετή στους Στύλους του Ολυμπίου Διός, όπου ο λόγος του δακρυσμένου Κυριακίδη (δήλωνε: «Είμαι υπερήφανος που είμαι Έλλην») συγκίνησε το πλήθος. Η επιστροφή στο σπίτι του στην Φιλοθέη κράτησε 8 ώρες. Για πρώτη φορά μετά την Κατοχή, φωταγωγήθηκε η Ακρόπολη προς τιμήν του.
