 Today's Thought for the Day

Loving Sai Ram from Prasanthi Nilayam
03 Oct 2019

To experience God, what should we give up? Bhagawan drives home an important lesson today. Sathya Sai Baba

When forces of injustice, immorality and untruth grow to monstrous proportions and indulge in a death-dance, when selfishness and self-interest are rampant, when men and women have lost all sense of kindness and compassion, the Atmic principle, assuming the form of Divine, emerges to destroy the evil elements. This is the inner meaning of the Dasara festival. Each one must decide for themselves whether they are Ravana or Rama according to the qualities they manifest in daily living. Who is Ravana and what are his ten heads? Kama (lust), Krodha (anger), Moha (delusion), Lobha (greed), Mada (pride), Matsarya (Envy), Manas (the mind), Buddhi (intellect), Chitta (will) and Ahamkara (the Ego) - these ten constitute the ten heads. Arrogance is a demon. Bad thoughts are demons. Rama is the destroyer of the bad qualities. During the ten days of Dasara, you must pray to God to destroy all the wicked traits present in you.
