The ascended master Hilarion, the Chohan,1 or Lord, of the Fifth Ray of Science, Healing and Truth, holds a world balance for truth from his etheric retreat, known as the Temple of Truth, over the island of Crete. The island was an historic focal point for the Oracle of Delphi in ancient Greece.We know few of this master’s incarnations, but the three most prominent are as the High Priest of the Temple of Truth on Atlantis; then as Paul, beloved apostle of Jesus; and as Hilarion, the great saint and healer, performer of miracles, who founded monasticism in Palestine. They resided in the same geographical region in which he had lived as Paul in his previous lifetime. As a young boy, Hilarion was sent to Alexandria to study. During this time of study, he heard the gospel and was converted to Christianity.His greatest desire was to be a hermit—to spend his time fasting and praying to God in seclusion. So he divided his fortune among the poor and set out for the desert near Gaza. He spent twenty years in prayer in the desert before he performed his first miracle. God, through him, cured a woman of barrenness. And his healing ministry began.Soon Hilarion was sought out by hundreds who had heard of his miraculous cures and ability to exorcise demons. In 329 A.D., with a growing number of disciples assembling around him, he fled to Egypt to escape the constant flow of people seeking to be healed from all manner of diseases. His travels brought him to Alexandria again, to the Libyan Desert and to Sicily.But his miracles did not only include healings. Totally ruined by Romans at 69 B.C., as they were bothered by a)the high cultural level and b)the legal and 'illegal' high mercantile earnings achieved by the Cretans... (the 'illegal' could also be here dubbed as 'pirate activity gains', a sector in which the Roman-British Empire so strategically deployed their international politics and policies, quite a few eons later, till today and quite successfully...without the cultural aspect though, unfortunately!...)m.l.p.

Ανατολικά του λιμανιού βρίσκεται το νεκροταφείο της πόλης των αρχαϊκών και κλασικών χρόνων. Έχουν ανασκαφεί 43 τάφοι, κιβωτιόσχημοι και εγχυτρισμοί σε πίθους. Στην ίδια περιοχή βρίσκεται και ο γνωστός "θρόνος" της Φαλάσαρνας (τον συναντάμε στο χωματόδρομο που οδηγεί στην είσοδο του αρχαιολογικού χώρου) που ίσως ήταν απλώς βήμα για ομιλητές, ενώ νότια του "θρόνου" και κατά μήκος της βραχώδους ακτής διακρίνονται λατομεία καθώς και μία δεξαμενή λαξευμένη στο βράχο.

Το λιμάνι συνδεόταν με τη θάλασσα με τεχνητό κανάλι (μήκους 50 μ., πλάτους 10 μ. και βάθους 2 μ.) και ήταν ενταγμένο στην οχύρωση της πόλης.

Φαλάσαρνα: Αυτή η υπέροχη παραλία στα Χανιά κρύβει μία ιστορία που λίγοι γνωρίζουν
Είναι μία από τις πιο φημισμένες παραλίες του νομού Χανίων και όποιος την έχει επισκεφθεί έχει να λέει για τα υπέροχα νερά της, την άμμο της και το μπλε, ως εκεί που φτάνει το μάτι.
Αυτό που πολλοί λουόμενοι δεν γνωρίζουν είναι η μεγάλη ιστορία της περιοχής, καθώς στο βραχώδες ακρωτήριο βρισκόταν η ακρόπολη της αρχαίας Φαλάσαρνας, πόλης-κράτους που άκμασε στην ελληνιστική περίοδο.
Κατοικήθηκε από τη Μεσομινωική εποχή ενώ βρισκόταν στον ναυτικό δρόμο που ένωνε την Αλεξάνδρεια με το Αιγαίο.
Σήμερα, ο κόσμος συρρέει στη δυτική πλευρά του νομού Χανίων, σε απόσταση περίπου 50 χιλιομέτρων από την πόλη, για τα κρυστάλλινα νερά της παραλίας, τη γαλαζοπράσινη θάλασσα και την ψιλή άμμο και την ιδιαίτερη φυσική ομορφιά.
Οι βόρειοι και δυτικοί άνεμοι προκαλούν πολλές φορές και μεγάλα κύματα. Κάτι που κάποιοι θα πρέπει να προσέχουν αλλά άλλοι, εκείνοι που αγαπούν το σέρφινγκ δηλαδή, θα απολαύσουν.
Φαλάσαρνα – Ιστορία
Η αρχαία πόλη Φαλάσαρνα ήταν ιδιαίτερα αναπτυγμένη εμπορικά, με δικό της νόμισμα που έφερε τη μορφή μιας γυναίκας από τη μια πλευρά και τα αρχικά γράμματα ΦΑ ανάμεσα σε μια τρίαινα, ενδεικτικά της περιοχής από την άλλη.
Στην αρχαιότητα η Φαλάσαρνα (ή τα Φαλάσαρνα) συμπεριελάμβανε το ακρωτήρι με το ύψωμα όπου ήταν χτισμένη η ακρόπολη, ενώ από κάτω βρίσκονταν το λιμάνι της πόλης.

Το λιμάνι της Φαλάσαρνας είχε διαστάσεις 100 μ. επί 75 μ και ήταν το μοναδικό «κλειστό» λιμάνι στη δυτική Κρήτη.
Για την κατασκευή του λιμανιού εκμεταλλεύτηκαν τη λιμνοθάλασσα που υπήρχε εδώ ανοίγοντας κανάλι μήκους 50 μ., πλάτους 10 μ. και βάθους 2 μ. για να δημιουργήσουν την απαραίτητη έξοδο προς τη θάλασσα.
Το λιμάνι ήταν ιδιαίτερα ασφαλές και τα τείχη της πόλης προεκτείνονταν στους λιμενοβραχίονες του, με αποτέλεσμα να γίνει σπουδαίο ναυτικό και εμπορικό κέντρο.
Τα Φαλάσαρνα σε πόλεμο με την Πολυρρήνια
Ο ιστορικός Πολύβιος σημειώνει μία συμμαχία ανάμεσα στα Φαλάσαρνα και την Κυδωνία (τα αρχαία Χανιά) με την Κνωσσό και άλλες 28 κρητικές πόλεις εναντίον της Φαιστού και των συμμάχων της, μία από τις οποίες η Πολυρρήνια, παραδοσιακή εχθρός της πόλης Φαλάσαρνα.
Το αποτέλεσμα της συμμαχίας ήταν ένας πόλεμος με 100ετή διάρκεια, με νικήτρια την Πολυρρήνια. Ο πόλεμος τελείωσε το 186 π.Χ. όταν ο Ρωμαίος Άππιος Κλαύδιος διέταξε τις δύο πόλεις να αποσυρθούν και να σταματήσουν οι εχθροπραξίες σε άλλα μέρη της Κρήτης.
Η ακμή της Φαλάσαρνας
Το όνομα Φαλάσαρνα αποδίδεται στην τοπική νύμφη Φαλασάρνη, που ήταν ένα είδος τοπικής ηρωίδας. Η πόλη αναπτύχθηκε ιδιαίτερα κατά τον 4ο και 3ο πΧ αιώνα, ενώ μάλλον προέκυψε από τη συνένωση μικρών οικισμών που υπήρχαν στην περιοχή. Από ανασκαφές στην ευρύτερη περιοχή φαίνεται ότι υπήρχε κατοίκηση ήδη από την πρωτομινωική περίοδο, στην οποία ανήκει οικισμός στο νότιο άκρο της παραλίας.
Βέβαιο θεωρείται ότι η ιδανική τοποθεσία της Φαλάσαρνας στο δυτικό άκρο της Κρήτης, με άμεση σύνδεση με την Αλεξάνδρεια στην Αίγυπτο συνετέλεσαν στη μεγάλη της ανάπτυξη. Ωστόσο τα έσοδα των ναυτικών δεν περιορίζονταν μόνο στο εμπόριο, αλλά είχαν αναπτύξει ιδιαίτερα την πειρατεία, όπως και άλλες παράλιες πόλεις της εποχής εκείνης.
Η καταστροφή της Φαλάσαρνας
Σύμφωνα με την ιστορία, οι Ρωμαίοι δεν ήταν καθόλου ευχαριστημένοι με τα κατορθώματα των πειρατών και το 69 πΧ. κατέστρεψαν τα Φαλάσαρνα ολοκληρωτικά. Για να μη χρησιμοποιηθεί ποτέ ξανά το λιμάνι από πειρατικά καράβια, έφραξαν την είσοδο του με πέτρινους πλίνθους, ώστε μόνο μικρές βάρκες να μπορούν να μπουν σ’ αυτό.
Η πόλη δεν κατάφερε ποτέ πια να ορθοποδήσει αυτή, ενώ ο μεγάλος σεισμός του 365 μ.Χ ανύψωσε την δυτική ακτή της Κρήτης κατά 6 – 9 μέτρα, οπότε το λιμάνι στα Φαλάσσαρνα βρέθηκε ξαφνικά έξω από τη θάλασσα. Γι αυτό σήμερα, αν περπατήσετε στον αρχαιολογικό χώρο θα δείτε ότι τα ερείπια της πόλης και το λιμάνι της απέχουν περίπου 100μ από τη θάλασσα.
Ο αρχαιολογικός χώρος στη Φαλάσαρνα
Η περιοχή εξερευνήθηκε κατά τα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα από Άγγλους περιηγητές, οι οποίοι και ανακάλυψαν το λιμάνι και τα ερείπια του οικισμού.

Από το 1986 η Εφορεία Αρχαιοτήτων σε συνεργασία με το Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού ξεκίνησαν έρευνα και σχέδιο για τον καθαρισμό της περιοχής και την ανάδειξη του αρχαιολογικού χώρου.
Ο αρχαιολογικός χώρος της αρχαίας Φαλάσαρνας περιλαμβάνει το λιμάνι, την ακρόπολη και τα νεκροταφεία της πόλης.
Ερείπια από το αρχαίο λιμάνι στα Φαλάσαρνα
Στο λιμάνι θα δείτε εργαστήρια στα βορειο-δυτικα, 2 αποβάθρες που κάποτε εξείχαν 40 εκατοστά πάνω από τη θάλασσα και τους δύο από τους τέσσερις οχυρωματικούς πύργους του λιμανιού χτισμένους το 350 π.Χ. Ο πρώτος είναι κυκλικός (4,5 μέτρα ύψος, 9 μέτρα διάμετρος) και ο δεύτερος τετράπλευρος.
Στην κορυφή του ακρωτηρίου, εκεί που βρίσκονταν η Ακρόπολη, έχουν βρεθεί 2 ναοί, δεξαμενές και δημόσια κτίρια. Η ακρόπολη προστατεύονταν από τείχη με πύργους και προμαχώνες.
Ανατολικά από το λιμάνι βρίσκεται το νεκροταφείο της Φαλάσαρνας, όπου οι ανασκαφές έχουν φέρει στο φως 43 κιβωτιόσχημους τάφους και νεκρούς θαμμένους μέσα σε μεγάλους πίθους.
Στην ίδια περιοχή βρίσκεται ο θρόνος της Φαλάσαρνας, που όμως δεν ήταν το κάθισμα του τοπικού ηγεμόνα, αλλά μάλλον βήμα για δημόσιες ομιλίες.
