President Trump Open to Joint Russia-U.S. Strikes
In Against ISIS In Syria
23 January 2017
President Donald Trump is changing the way U.S. armed forces conduct bombing runs when it comes to Syria and the Islamic State group, breaking with the policy of the Obama administration and being more open to conducting joint strikes between U.S. and Russian forces, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said Monday.

After the Pentagon disputed Russian reports such coordination had already been taken place, and calling it “rubbish,” Spicer maintained in his first press briefing the new president would be open to such an effort, Time magazine reported.

“The president has been very clear that he’s going to work with any country that shares our interest in defeating ISIS. I think that if there’s a way that we can combat ISIS with any country, whether it’s Russia or anyone else, and we have a shared national interest in that, sure, we’ll take it.” – White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer
