an American anti-war activist says.
“Obama is likely
to get his deal through. Not because he’s a man of peace, he’s not. But
because as I have said before the US needs a peace deal with Iran for
their pivot to Asia,” said Joe Iosbaker, a leader of the United National
Antiwar Coalition.
“Obama is trying to represent the interests of multi-national capitalism – and the threat the imperialists, the robber barons, they face a threat from China’s growth,” Iosbaker told Press TV on Friday.
“They are preparing for one major war that war is in Asia and I believe because of this strategic decision, Obama will get his nuclear deal approved.”
The Republican-controlled Congress is reviewing the nuclear agreement and has until September 17 to vote to either approve or disapprove of it.
Republicans, who control both chambers of Congress, almost unanimously oppose the agreement because they say it gives too many concessions to Iran and threatens the security of Israel, a major US ally in the Middle East.
Obama has pledged to veto a resolution of disapproval in Congress, and opponents need a two-thirds vote to override his veto.
A new report has revealed that Saudi Arabia is spending millions of dollars to fund television commercials against the Iran nuclear agreement.
A newly established group, called the “American Security Initiative”, has flooded television stations across the US with $6 million of advertisements requesting Americans to call their senators and oppose the Vienna nuclear accord, The Intercept, an online news magazine, reported on Friday.
The Israel lobbying groups in the US, particularly the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), are already engaged in a massive effort to sink the Iran nuclear agreement in Congress.
“Israel has attacked every one of its neighbors, and has bombed nuclear power facilities in the region, including in Iraq. They are the threat to peace, not Iran. Iran has not invaded a neighbor in modern history.”

“They [US] face a threat from China’s growth because China is not an imperialist country,” he said. “The US is threatened by the prospects of a world that is not dominated by imperialism.”“This is why Obama wants the nuclear deal with Iran, because the US can’t prepare for fighting two major wars,” he added.

“It is not Iran that poses the danger of nuclear weapons in the region, it is Israel,” Iosbaker asserted.“Israel, not Iran, has refused to allow IAEA inspectors to look at their facilities. Iran has agreed to have inspections of their non-military labs, and to provide IAEA inspectors with all the data they are requesting from their military sites. Israel refuses to do either of those,” the activist noted.
