Chinese Ambassador shows his trust in Spain in the 65th anniversary of the People’s Republic

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Spain, Zhu Bangzao (in the picture toasting with the Spanish secretary of State of Foreign Policy, Gonzalo de Benito), highlighted, during the reception he offered on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the foundation of that state -1 October 1949-), that “Spain and China have a very good base and much space to develop friendly relations and go more deeply into pragmatic collaborations”.
A sign of these good relations between the two countries is the last trip of the president of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, to China, “where he signed 14 cooperation agreements valued at 3,150 million euros, including economy, commerce, culture, finances, telecommunications, energy and other areas”. “The support of the Chinese Government –the ambassador continued- to the Spanish economy has been reflected in the increase of purchase of Spanish debt, increasing the investment and encouraging Chinese tourists to come to Spain. Real friendship can be found in difficult moments and China is a friend worth of Spain’s trust”.
In relation to the changes that have been taking place in China for years, the Ambassador Zhu Bangzao stated that, “to a large extent, the great success of China’s development is achieved thanks to the policies of reform and reopening” that the country is implementing. Despite of not mentioning the protests taking place in Hong Kong, he pointed out that, “at the moment, China is going more deeply into the reforms, making an effort to modify the model of economic development to increase the efficiency allowing us to punish corruption harshly, to increase the standard of living in the nation and to improve the quality of opening abroad”.
The secretary of State Gonzalo de Benito spoke after him and thanked the Chinese Government’s trust in Spain. He also pointed out that “the People’s Republic of China is a strategic partner for Spain in Asia, because of the weight and the strength it has at an Asiatic and international level”.
Attending the reception, celebrated last Tuesday in the Eurostars Madrid Tower hotel, were several representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Spain. Among others, the ambassadors of Poland, Luxembourg, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, Pakistan, New Zealand, Malta, Malaysia and Slovenia, as well as several Chinese and Spanish businesspeople, such as Luis Alsina, president of Soxna; César Egido, president of the Foundation César Egido and Juan Vera, head of the Office; and Diego Serrano, president of Affirma.
