Some
US officials consider Israel a “liability” to their country’s national
interests and are starting to push back against this “aggressive”
entity, an analyst tells Press TV.
“Some realists within the US government view Israel as a ‘liability’
to American national interest,” said Brandon Martinez, the co-founder of
nonalignedmedia.com in an interview with Press TV, adding that “they
are starting to push back against this ‘aggressive’ entity which has
essentially been dictating US foreign policy in the Middle East for
several decades.”The analyst also stated, “American officials are sort of tired of being pushed around, of being bullied and… going along with every wish and whim of the Israeli regime.”The remarks came after Israel’s Finance Minister Yair Lapid warned that the relations between Tel Aviv and Washington have reached a crisis point amid growing tensions between the two sides.
Israeli Minister for Military Affairs Moshe Ya’alon had earlier called Kerry’s efforts for a so-called Israeli-Palestinian peace “messianic and obsessive.”
In response, State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the remarks were “offensive and inappropriate.
The US administration has also rejected a request by Ya’alon during a recent visit by the Israeli minister to the US to meet with several top-ranking American officials.
Martinez noted that by blocking this Israeli official from meeting with top American officials, the United States is telling the Israelis “you are not going to tell us what to do any longer.”
The analyst concluded by saying that these Israeli ministers are essentially “war criminals” and should be arrested and tried for war crimes when they come to the United States.
