Argentina looking to Russian poultry import quotas

MOSCOW, September 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia, Argentina may increase bilateral trade to three billion dollars in 2015 thanks to energy projects and food supply, the head of Russian agrarian supervising agency at the helm of bilateral intergovernmental commission on trade and economic co-operation from this country said. “This is more than real to bring it to three billion dollars in 2015,” Sergei Dankvert said after a meeting of the commission in Moscow. Meanwhile, additional Argentinean food supplies which the Latin American country agreed to make in the wake of sanctions against Russia would account for half of this growth, he said. Bilateral trade would make two billion dollars in 2013, Dankvert noted.
Meanwhile, Russia would expand its presence in Argentinean energy sector, Argentinean Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Bianco said. “Power Machines company will deliver turbines, Russia nuclear agency will build a fifth nuclear power plant in Argentina and company Inter RAO which had won a tender for construction of a dam in Argentina will build it jointly with an American corporation,” he said. Russia and Argentina have also concluded contracts for delivery of one million tonnes of liquefied gas and supplies oil products, Dankvert said.
Russia has agreed with Argentina on growth of meat and dairy product supplies, Dankvert added. Argentinean butter and cheese producers will make an alternative to European meat and cheese producers, he said. “Before retaliatory measures were imposed Argentina has doubled supplies of butter, cheese and sea food for seven months of 2014,” the agrarian supervising official said
